A Refreshing Dip at Kawasan Falls

Kawasan Falls has always been a pride of South Cebu.  The cold water coming from the falls and its natural pool at its basin gives instant refreshment to anyone who would take a dip.

To get here, one has to reach Matutinao Church in Badian, Cebu.  Buses can be found at Cebu South Bus Terminal.  Just tell the driver or conductor to drop you off Matutinao Church.  We got there via habal habal ride from Osmeña Peak.

From Matutinao Church, you will be met by locals offering to bring your bags and walk you through the falls for a meager tip .  If you packed light, you will not need their services.  You just have to follow the lead of the river with a striking background of coconut trees and other flora.  The calming sound of flowing water relaxes your body before you even reach the falls.

There are restaurants and even room accommodations in Kawasan Falls that offer services and goods at a touristy price.  I think Kawasan Falls is better if these establishments were not built just beside the falls.  I don’t know but I just felt like these establishments that gave price to your every move is somewhat out-of-place.

We tried the raft going to the falling water of the falls to experience its famous shower massage.  The current was strong yet so relaxing for our tired muscles.  The raft is good for a group of up to 15 persons any group below that number will have to pay for the whole amount.  Although it’s a bit expensive for us (3 pax), I still recommend this experience.

Our Expenses:

  • Single motorcycle ride from Dalaguete Road to Osmeña Peak to Kawasan Falls:  Php1,600 for two motorcycles/3 pax.  This is over our budget but still availed it since we’re chasing our time.
  • Entrance Fee at Kawasan Falls:  Php10.00 each
  • Kawasan Falls Raft:  Php300.00/group of 15 pax
  • Local to pull the Raft to the Falling Water:  Php200.00/2 locals
  • Lifevest:  Php50.00/pax

  2. Hi! I’m going to Dalaguete next month and need to go to Moalboal or Badian after and not take the longer route. I’m curious on how long was the Habal Habal ride from Osmena Peak to Kawasan Falls? Thank you!
