From Cebu International Airport, we hailed a taxi that would bring us to One Mango Mall. Our destination? Cebu’s lechon made famous by “the best pig ever” declaration of the world-renowned chef Anthony Bourdain. In his blog entry, “The Hierarchy of Pork”, he placed Philippines’ lechon in no. 1 spot, followed by Bali and Puerto Rico.
Lechon, a whole roasted pig, is a popular Filipino cuisine often served during festivities and celebrations. So for my birthday, we headed to Zubuchon to try the “best pig”.
Here’s what we ordered:
We ordered 1/2 Kl of Zubuchon for 280.00 Php (I Kilo costs 530.00 Php). I guess, what made zubuchon distinct is the succulent and juicy meat of the pork against the usual bland taste of other lechon meats.
We would have wanted to try their Kamias shake but it was not available during our visit. Instead, we had Four Seasons (45.00 Php), Fresh Buko (85.00 Php) and Kalamansi Honey (75.0 Php) to compelement our not so healthy lunch. All prices are exclusive of 5% Service Charge.
